Highflight

2012 is a leap year! Just in case you forgot,which gave us a one up on February as far as this year’s calendar goes. Now  that we are coming to the end of November  with all the plans we are making in all our preparations to launch into the end year,what will really matter the most is what we are ALL looking forward to as a nation; our chance to defy the gravity of our issues and leap towards a better year come 2013 and life in all.

So here are some uplifting words of an aviator and  poet to jump start your week this end month. His poem High Flight goes like this:

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds—and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue,
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew—
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

By John Gillespie Magee Jr.

Until the next time:aim high and stay lifted
